Dr. Angela Miller-Niles is an assistant professor of piano at Wayne State College. She teaches applied piano lessons, class in piano, and piano pedagogy, and conducts the keyboard ensemble. She also teaches music technology and music appreciation. She earned her Doctor of Music degree in collaborative piano performance at the University of Colorado in Boulder, studying with Margaret McDonald and Alexandra Nguyen. She also holds a Master of Music degree in piano performance from Central Michigan University and Bachelor of Music degree in performance from the University of South Dakota.
Dr. Miller-Niles maintains an active performing schedule both as a soloist and as a collaborative pianist. Recent performances include faculty recitals at Wayne State College along with outreach concerts in Wayne. Her interest in community outreach can be seen in her work with the Piatagorsky Foundation, including a 2011 Colorado Outreach Tour and a performance at the 2012 Wyoming Governor’s Arts Awards Ceremony. She has won several performance competitions and was awarded teaching assistantships and performance scholarships at Central Michigan University and the University of Colorado-Boulder.
She is an active member of the Music Teachers’ National Association, where she serves as president-elect for the state of Nebraska, as well as the College Music Society and National Federation of Music Clubs. She has been a member of the Pi Kappa Lambda National Music Honor Society since 2007.
She has presented at regional and national conferences for MTNA, CMS, the National Association of Teachers of Singing, and the National Conference for College Wind and Percussion Instructors. She and her husband enjoy making music with their sons Henry and Ivan at home in Wayne.
